Class Descriptions

Show classes for:
Music Together® Infants

This class for non-cruising babies serves as a wonderful and fundamental introduction to Music Together. Parents receive a special Music Together Infant Anthology that is chock full of songs, chants, and activities most effective with young pre-verbal, pre-mobile infants.

Teacher Training Demonstration

This is a demonstration class that happens within the context of a teacher training. It is taught by currently registered teachers who are earning their Level 1 Music Together certification. The class is open to all families who have ever enrolled in a Music Together class through South Shore Conservatory. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Music Together

Adults, regardless of musical ability, find it fun and easy to help create an environment that supports any child in achieving basic music competence. Children of mixed ages participate at their own level by singing, moving, listening, and exploring instruments.

Drama: Curtain Going Up

Designed for children, 4-6, Curtain Going Up offers our youngest performers an opportunity to develop speaking, listening, and social skills through structured dramatic play. Students will engage in creative exploration through participation in theatre games, as well as an age-appropriate mini-musical experience, integrating simple song work and movement.

Yoga for Kids

Yoga is a great way for kids to get exercise, improve their focus, nurture their soul and have a lot of fun. A typical class usually includes learning some animal yoga poses and becoming aware of our breath. We also sing songs to yoga poses, act out a yoga story and of course have a little rest at the end.

Drum & Sing I, Ages 4-5

You will see your child’s ability to sing in tune, perform steady beat and understand basic rhythm patterns grow through a variety of songs, games, dances and activities designed to be fun and instructional.

Drum & Sing II, Ages 6-8

Students who continue from Level I will build on the skills they have developed. New students will be immersed in a fun class that will foster the development of their basic skills. All students are allowed to develop at their own pace and are encouraged to reach toward their potential. Level II incorporates collaboration with Voice Class 7-9 to enrich vocal development, movement activities and playing classroom instruments to foster steady beat and rhythm skills, and an introduction to recorder to give students a chance to learn a specific instrument and start to read music.

Story Play

Part play group, part parent support group, this is a class designed for anyone looking to nurture their child's creativity.  More and more, there is pressure for even young children to excel in pre-academics, while the value of play for its own sake is being lost in the shuffle.  Each week features a favorite children’s book with artistic, multi-sensory thematic extensions and lots of accessible ideas for creative connection and play at home.  Class time will include structured activities as well as a facilitated time for parents to learn and share with each other the trials and tribulations of nurturing creativity in our fast-paced, high-tech world.  Plant those creative seeds today!
